not very modern in my experience.. :Bravo1:

they are fine though

aircon is on but not great..bus's are mostly taken by the thai's so the temp suits them

might feel warm for someone comin from northern europe in winter :)

Always do a deal with a meter taxi, usually 1200 THB (including tolls - make sure it's included). Much better / quicker / more relaxing than the bus. Biggest advantages for me are:

Pick up from BKK hotel

Can have a smoke if you are a smoker

Can stop off for beer, snacks etc. when you want, on the way

Air-con in the taxi

Drop off at hote in Patts (make sure you have a map / directions

All for less that 25 Euro, costs me that to get to Schiphol on the train

Ive done the trip you talk about loads of times. Its a breeze. As the other Bm says, get the skytrain to Ekamai (last stop I think), then you''ll see ticket booths with destinations printed about them. I think its 110 baht for Pattaya. They are every hour I think. It can take up to 3 hours, but usually just over 2 depending on traffic. Expect to pay around 100 baht at the bus station for the baht buses into central pattaya area.
