Premium Immigration gate BKK airport

Arrived a few weeks ago, as I was in Business I was given a premium lane pass.

Arrived there and the queues were huge. After a few minutes I noticed many of the people did not have passes. There was a large Chinese group and there also appeared to be a large group of my countrymen.

Not sure if they arrived there by accident or thought they could scam their way through without a pass.

Anyway, I then notice (in another line) the Immigration officer came out to the queue and took a family to the front of the queue. Thought they must be some sort of VIP. Next thing I know the officer looking after my queue came out waving the pass. I held my pass up and he brought me to the front of the queue, past the 20 or so people in front of me.

I have used this lane many times, usually there are no more than 2 or 3 people in front of you.

Hope they do police this as people pay money for this service

That has been my experience as well. There have been many people who shouldn't have been there and nobody around to tell them to go elsewhere. In my experience it is better to go to the normal immigration area as it is often quicker.

When you go up to the custom, they take your premium lane pass.

You are talking about one of these passes?

Yes that is the one. However, it is immigration that take them rather than customs. Customs are that people that you see half asleep after you get your luggage... :GoldenSmile1:

I came through last week and the lines were not that long. As I was in the line nearest to the normal immigration lines.... a couple left those lines ...undid the leather strap barrier and proceeded to join the premium line. A staff member told them to return to the lines they came from but they just laughed and stood there.

At that point all windows in the premium line stopped processing.... other staff fixed the barrier and stood there and then they started at the front asking for you to show the premium card. If you did not have one... they escorted the person back down the race to join the end of the large queue in the normal lines.

At that point....the ones who broke the barrier started arguing that they wanted to return to the place they were in the normal line before they broke the barrier. The lady immigration officer just said no... go that way and rejoin the right queue.... they kept arguing and tried to undo the leather strap barrier while still arguing... and at that point others arrived and escorted the ones arguing away but not in the direction of the normal lines but another direction.

When I got my stamp I asked what will happen and all the immigration staff said with a smile... they will be here for many hours to come. With that... checked my stamp... out to get my bag..... into taxi... and off for a cold beer.

cheers

I normally get one of these passes and premium line is usually very short.

However when I flew in recently from a neighbouring country economy, no pass and mega queues at immigration.

So I sneaked past officials and joined premium line. No-one asked for my pass - straight thro.

You don't need the "premium" lane. On my last two trips I have walked straight through immigration without any queueing (10 AM arrival). Just make sure you go to Immigration 2, not 1.

Next trip Aug 31-Sep13, theme: try more freelancers, get dirty! Note to self: TAKE MORE PHOTOS!!!

The normal lane can be quick. On my recent trip, I did a side trip to Cambodia, didn't have the premium pass and it was around the same time in the afternoon of my original inbound flight when the normal lanes were packed, and this time they were practically empty.

Got in queu once with one person, me , and an English bloke walking to the immigration chick. He no have  entrance card. He then tells her he had been to coming to Thailand for years and never had to fill anything thing out.  She hands him a form He looks at . Never seen one.

Did not appreciate me saying "Bullshit, why do you think the airlines hand them out. " Amazingly they let him fill it out on the spot and of course he has to fuck around looking for details. Took the prick 10 minutes at least.  I got through, grabbed my bags which had already  been delivered while the other dill was being escorted to customs to check his contents while he was abusing them for wasting his time. Not smart. I reckon I was in Patts before he was out of customs.

As much as I love all things Australian, I got to get me action of the asian persuasian.
