I have Areca booked on Agoda but its not paid for yet, its 50 euro a night. My budget has taken a hit so instead I can get April Suites or pattaya bay for 31 euro a night. I have stayed in pattaya bay before I fond it fine but I hear its not as good as it used to be and April Suites is much better but the one advantage that pattaya bay has is its location, its much more central than April Suites , so which do ye recommend or is there something else at a similar price, my trip in in january?

April Suites is great, stayed there twice now. Will stay there in the future unless booked out. Set back off Second Rd so it's a nice quiet location.

Baht bus or short walk to Soi 6, sabai soapies.

You can pick up baht busses that turn left off Second Rd onto Pattaya Klang headed towards Walking St, not that many do it so I wouldn't hang around too long. Short stroll to Beach Rd and Bob's your uncle. Easy done.

Never stayed Areca, one thing that puts me off staying there is bathtub showers. Absolutely hate those.

Top location though...

all I need to know is that its not much hassle getting to and from Walking Street at night, I have read before of possible ladyboy attacks and being chased by stray dogs

No where is particularly much hassle getting to or from Walking St. Everywhere is pretty much a baht bus or two away from where you wana go.

Also, LB and soi dog attacks could happen anywhere. Or no where.

No need to fear them like the plague.

i booked Aprl suites for a week in start of februari for 28euro /night, havent stayed there yet but its not that long of walk down to start

of Soi Buakhow where you can take baht bus close to Walking Street, I read if you afraid of that ally at night its possible to walk trough

their sister hotel August suite connected to pattaya klang.

No idea about August, but April Suites aren't the best beds. Bit hardish, blankets somewhat thin but I prefer thin blankets so they suit me.

April is fine and as said before it's very central. Take the baht bus on second road to go to Soi 6, or walk to Soi 6. Or take the baht bus on Klang after you've crossed second road and that will bring you to beach road where they turn left to go towards walking streets.

Getting attached by Soi dogs or ladyboys - that can happen anywhere in Pattaya...

There are 2 ways to get to April suites: you either take the little Soi on second street. That little Soi can be a little bit dark and has some motorbike taxi dudes hanging outside and the occasional Soi dog.

Or you can use the August Suites entrance on Pattaya Klang, walk past the reception, leave August Suites by back door and within a few steps you're at April.

I didn't experience that the beds were too hard, but they're certainly firm. It is a matter of taste tho.
