Planning a 3-4 Days Motorcycle Tour, Advice Welcome

A buddy and I are experienced riders and want to do a ride for a few days in October. We're interested in scenery, wildlife, temples and seeing some rural life. We're not sure what size bike to rent and from where, what to bring, routes, lodging, etc. Any advice is appreciated.

You'd probably be best basing yourselves in or setting off from somewhere like Chiang Mai and doing the north of the country. There are several touring maps available that show trips ranging from one day up to a week or more.
