Bookings could be down 30%

Pattaya, a popular Eastern seaboard resort, is also affected by the political turmoil, according to Thanet Supornsaharungsi, president of Pattaya Business and Tourism Association. He estimated that if the political situation does not improve, Pattaya hotel bookings will fall some 30 per cent in the fourth quarter, or about Bt7.5 billion in terms of revenue.

Am sure Etihad will be ok. They are backed by the Abu Dhabi royal family. I cant see the problems with rising fuel costs affecting those guys.

I think bookings are looking ok according to ours and a few other people I know, most people are already booked thier rooms over xmas, if you leave it too long the best rooms are gone.....

Maybe it will keep those prices down...Tourist Authorities claim this every year..I hope so because the 2 week millionaires throw more money at these girls then in Vegas..All currencys have dropped compared to the Baht making things more expensive..Russian tourist will be on the rise but from what I see they are tight fisted...

As Q said, the girls will reckon they have to charge more for each shot, as they have fewer customers, just go to walk away and many will see sense, but strangely some just don't understand and hold out for the increase. Obviously not familiar with supply and demand.

Very true Q..Many will jack there prices Up..But now its rainy season and few tourist...The girls are not capable of saving money for slow season..They jack up the Price BUT When there belly hits the backbone? Rent due--No food--No money for cell phone or clothes ETC the Prices Quickly Come down....You can only hold out for Mr Big Bucks Just So Long~~~

I dont know about this report, all I know is i had a prick of a time getting squared away with accommodation over xmas, new yr. PBR full, Areca full, Sandy springs full. Found some accom eventually but rest assured I think it will be a rocking xmas for sure

I hope to go in November or February. There is no way that I am paying ANA $2,600 for a ticket that I can get in November for $1,350.

I suspect that most of the cancellations will be from the 'family' tourist types. Mongers have a different motivation to come here and so it will be more difficult to deter them from coming. I think it will be good for keeping hotel prices down but not for much else. IMO the thing that may stop some mongers coming is because of economic uncertainty or lack of funds.

I flew in on Korean Air. I had a 5 hour layover in Incheon because they had cancled 1/2 of there BKK flights due to lack of bookings. Most of the beer bars are empty of customers. The girls are bored to tears. Hopefully the busy season will start up soon. There has to be enough business to substain them ... and that means more thatn there is right now.
