Thai language schools

Hey everyone. I am looking into a Thai language school. You would think living with a Thai gf, her daughter and father I wouldn't need a school but they really can not help me read and write. I am thinking about Wallen but they seem very expensive. Any suggestions?

You don't really need a school to learn the Thai alphabet and beginning to read. No doubt having an instructor later will help a lot but you don't need it to start with. I used Learn Thai the Rapid Way and was surprised how quickly I learnt the alphabet. The website has some samples so you can see if the method will work for you.

Thanks. I think I will save my time and money for now. I'll get the alphabet and numbers down first

Sorry Pattaya Jones.  Dont mean to steal your thread but I have a similar question.

 

I met an expat on my last trip that was enrolled in a Thai language class so that he could get a student visa.

He said he only attended 1/3 of the time.  I didnt get the name of the course or location.

 

Are there any Thai language classes that would assist me to get/keep a student visa without requiring much on my part?
