Kan Air services Chiang Mai to Pia, flight takes 20 minutes for about 2200 baht each way.

For 80 km you should be able to get a taxi for about 1000 baht.

The Mae hong son loop is a one way loop.

I did the loop, extended trip, in July/August with 9 guys on bikes & 3 of us in the shagging wagon. Best trip I have been on

Roads are great with dedicated scooter lanes that people stick too.

99% of drivers were courteous & helpful in overtaking on short stretches of road

scenery was fabulous & I loved the driving thru the bends & switchbacks

People throughout were friendly & helpful

Can not recommend it enough

We did

Chiang Mai to Mae Sariang via Doi Inthanon. 261 kms

Mai Sariang to Pai via 108 and 1095. Overnight Pai .269 kms

Pai to Chiang Rai. Via 1095, 107, 109,118 and 1 . 313 kms

Chiang Rai to Nan via AH#, 1292,1186,1148 and 101. 243 kms

Nan to Uttaradit - 245kms

Uttaradit to Chiang Mai - 246 kms

These seem short trips until you factor in the bends etc & then you are looking at 4 - 6 hrs most days

We are doing an extended version of this in Feb '17

Suspect they were a casualty of the forum software upgrade. Shame as you post quality pics of very lovely ladies.

Interesting (to computer geeks who have spent huge amounts of time planning/testing for upgrades) to speculate on causes of data loss...hopefully not permanent loss. Assuming both the old and new forum platform uses MySQL database, it seems like posts and images could be exported off forum as a Disaster Recovery backup regardless of whatever forum upgrade method was utilized. This supposition could be an oversimplification and incorrect in some or all assumptions, but that's the route I'd have investigated.

I'm sure those doing the upgrade did due diligence planning and executing, sometimes things just go wrong. Perhaps the files can be recovered from database and file storage backups? Best of luck with the remediation.

HOW TO SAVE IMAGE IN MYSQL DATABASE

Bhumi, 5 years ago

There are two ways to save images. Most common way is to save the file name in MySQL table and upload image in folder.Another way is to store the image into directly into the Database. As, Developers usually don’t use the second method, they might get confused.

To use MySQL for database information is undoubtedly a very good choice. Sometimes to save the image or file in the database than in a separate folder is more convenient. In this article, You will learn how to save the image or file into the MySQL database and how the database image will be displayed with the practical example.

To store an uploaded file in a database is more complex part than simply moving a file with move_uploaded_file. so today we will check for storing a file in the database.MySQL database provides specialized datatype to save a large amount of data and that data type is BLOB.

What is a BLOB?

BLOB data type is a binary large object that can hold a variable length of data.A BLOB is typically used to store binary data and has four types:

1. TINYBLOB
2. BLOB
3. MEDIUMBLOB
4. LONGBLOB

etc

Any current or recent info, experiences or advice on visiting Pai up near Chaing Mai? I'm headed there in a couple weeks to visit a friend and train at a Muay Thai camp up there. Most of the info I've found on here is a couple years old or refers to a Thai girl named "Pai" 5555... Thanks in advance fellas.

As of March 2018, there's nothing new to be added to the previous reports.

In regards to the pattaya-addicts sort of questions - no, there is basically no P4P establishments or scene. Even the most sultry-looking girl in the most likely-looking massage shop wouldn't respond to flirts or hints that extras would be welcome.

Tinder and Thai-friendly registered a few hits, but the region is vast, and most of the girls on the apps seemed 'genuine' rather than freelancers. You could either BYO, or better still, use the excursion to take a break.

For all other questions on accommodation, travel and sightseeing - the mainstream travel review sites and blogs should fill in the rest for you.

Me, I found it like a mini-Goa. And I really didn't like Goa. Way too many white-boy dreadlocks and tie-dye elephant pants. The cafes and bars are all at least originally quirky and unique, and the second-hand bookshop was one of the best I've found.
But Pai central (at least) was no more 'Real' Thai village than Khao San road.

The region is certainly pleasant enough, but I didn't get what was so special about Pai itself that turned that one tiny spot into a concentrated backpacker Mecca. Must have just randomly hit the jackpot with a good write-up in the Lonely Planet back in the 80s.

Maybe it was because it was big on drugs in the 90s.

Mao Hong Son just further on is worth a visit, good trekking

I fly to Mae Hong Song and take the minibus back to Chiang Mai, stopping in Pai for a few days.  Otherwise, it takes 6 hours on minibus to MHS.
