what if this happened

A farang man meets a Thai woman, marry's, they have 2 kids together. He has a marriage visa. He is 40'ish, has a small income from abroad.

His wife falls ill and dies. would he be able to stay here to take care of his kids. if so, what visa would he have ?

This is a hyperthetical scenario, but it could and probably has happened.

Anyone know ?

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

Interesting question I'd be interested to know the answer. I vaguely knew a guy in BBK who had a kid with a BG then she ran off and left him with the kid. Think he started teaching English and took care of the kid , but haven't heard of him for years.

If the Farang was a UK citizen the children would be British by descent they would have dual nationality, but if the children stay in Thailand and have kids in the future they will not get British nationality.

this really does not answer the question,

the man is too young for a retirement visa. his wife is dead,so he cannot have a marriege visa. he has no job,so cannot have a work permit. But he has 2 children by his wife. What kind of visa would allow him to stay and take care of his kids? Is there a visa for this situation?

As I said before. This is a hyperthetical situation, but could happen. What would the Thai immigration make of this. Maybe they would just tell him to take his kids and leave Thailand. That sounds wrong to me. After all, this supposed to be a civilised country.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

I think you can continue staying with Non Imm "O" - marriage visa with supporting purpose, there is no any problem for you to get 1 year Visa for 2000 baht.

IMO this would be his best option if he can support himself without working and is able to renew the visa every year. If he can't support himself and the kids then he is in a bit of a pickle.
