How much could I pick these up for in Patts they are going for around £30 in UK but I will be in Patts 12th March if the price was right would treat a few friends and family we all have the loose cable version but the chromecast would let you sit on your armchair and let you have your phone in your hand rather than 3 feet from the tv any info would be much appreciated THANKS :22600584-Th:

ive never found any cheap tech stuff in thailand due to all the taxes. Amazon is great for gadgets like roku and chromecast.

Price discussions are killing my mood and my illusions.

Let us know how you go with the Roku….I presume you're buying the streaming stick…..but my understanding of it that it performs a different job to the chrome cast.

The latter 'casts' whatever's playing on your mobile device or computer to your TV and offers limited content like Netflix/Youtube….whereas the Roku Streaming Stick is a full-on media player condensed into a stick for portability.

I have a Roku 3 and I cut my ties with thieving cable tv companies ages ago.

Price discussions are killing my mood and my illusions.

I've had a Chromecast and it worked well for some things, like YouTube. Unfortunately it didn't play Netflix at all well - it always started out a film or show in low-res for like a minute. We'd have to back up and replay it, but later there we lagging issues and sync problems... the Roku is great but a lot of the channels seem to be dead or not updated (that went back). Currently we're using an AppleTV with FilmOn TV (replaces a bunch of Roku channels) and a bunch of TV apps from the US and UK, streaming live to the aTV. For movies, we use Infuse on the iPad - it takes movies off the network drive and streams them to the aTV as well as acting like a remote. Not a singular solution, but it works better and more smoothly here

Yep, it does. I have an older aTV2 around too, jailbroken and running Firecore - if someone could jailbreak the faster aTV 3 to run it, I'd be a pig in shit.
