12Call Expiry Problem

I go to LOS about every few months. Each time I go to 7-11 and buy a new 12Call SIM. Even though I leave some credit on the SIM, by the time I return to LOS it has expired and I have to buy a new one. The SIM doesn't work in the UK and the 12Call website is too Thai for me to fathom if or how the SIM can be kept 'alive' for a few months.

 

I note that the SIMs I have been buying officially expire after about 12 months. But, I should be able to get at least a few trips worth of usage out of one SIM. Ideally, I would like a SIM that does not expire so easily and so quickly.

 

I would be grateful for any simple solutions that are available at any LOS 7-11 that don't require me to understand a Thai website.

The more you top up the longer airtime you get and what most people do if they want to keep their number is take home a few hundred baht worth of top up cards or as Panudate said ask someone over there to top it up for you and 12Call does work in the UK as long you have enough credit on your phone.

If you use Dtac you can extend your credit validility by up to a year at 2 Baht per 30 days. You can download their manual here.

I think you get approximately one month for every ฿100 you top up for One-2-Call.

Is this One-2-Call or Happy? I put ฿300 on top of the ฿100 the SIM came with and I only got four months total. Now I need to top up again to use it for my next trip. This is with One-2-Call. I would've used Happy like usual, but their service doesn't roam in the US. I can receive calls and texts free in the US with One-2-Call. Maybe I won't bother with it next time.

Interesting. Maybe I bought the wrong kind of SIM. If I remember correctly, they had SIMs in pink or green packages. I don't remember which one I got, but I'm sure I only got three months from my top-up. I just checked and it expires 8/28.

I will give DTAC/Happy a try next time. I have been persuaded by their English website and too much money already wasted on 12Call SIMs.

 

I just hope I can remember to stop at their airport outlet to buy the right SIM.
