Will most cars have 3 mirrors how many times do Thais use any of them ? How many Thais understand you are supposed to stop at a red light ? Therefore why should anybody be surprised that just because a train is coming, common sense would tell many Thais to let it pass first ?

 

Ignorance, stupidity, disregard to personal safety or a combination of all of them.  They should get themselves down to the temple now and on the way back buy as many lottery tickets as they can afford because clearly whilst they may be completely stupid, and eligible for a Darwin award, they are also incredibly lucky - God bless them both and may they have many more years in successfully dodging trains.

The car ended up in a ditch at the side of the train tracks and the train failed to stop and continued its journey.

 

Maybe they were expecting the train to give way?
