Would buying prescription (bifocal) glasses (of good quality) be cheaper in Thailand (Pattaya /Bangkok) or in the Philippines (Angeles / Manila) ?

Think I paid $400AUD 2 years ago in BKK.  Same in Australia is $900-1000AUD

Paid under $300 usd for bifocals at CASE optical in SM mall AC. Done in two days with usa prescription and VSP insurance reimbursed about $60 usd for an out of network purchase. Second time I've used them and very happy with their service. Last time April 2014. They always send someone to manila to pick up the completed prescription. In the usa I would have shelled out about $500 usd even after insurance reimbursement. What a racket those usa opticals run.
