Staying in either Lamai Beach or Chaweng beach

Can someone please give me some advice re which of the above would be the best suited for having a nice beach but some decent action at night(if you get my drift).

Lamai Beach was my 1st island destination, there is a reasonable amount of choice there with 3 or 4 main areas but mostly a BB complex around a Muay Thai ring, I don't think there are any Go Go's there, never went looking as always found good talent in the BB complex, very very small compared to Patts though.

 

Didn't go to Chewang so can't help you there!

Lamai is a small town. All the girls in the bars are P4P.

 

Chewang is alot bigger with a mix of bars, discos and pubs. Plenty of backpackers, normal tourists, some P4P.

 

If you are a young handsome man Jimmy go for chaweng. If you are not go for lamai.

 

I went to lamai and loved it. Guess which category I fit into 555

 

edit. Rent a motorbike. The beaches are great all over samui

Thanks Mr Wombat, I will take your advice and stick to Lamai Beach ( although i think i am handsome) but with too many birthdays, just want a break of a week from Pattaya, when I am back over there.

Lamai should do you just fine. The beach is better and the nighttime distractions are still there, just in a very laid back way compared to Pattaya. For a break away from the madness, I would choose Lamai 8 days in a week.

Chaweng too crowded and commercialised ! Lamai much better for p4p and chaweng is only a motorbikeride away !

Stayed in chaweng last year had a good time, should have checked out lamai because the beaches are supposed to be nicer. The lamai inn 99 I think it's called is cheap and girl friendly & def rent a motorbike, not as much crazy traffic as opposed to pattaya or Phuket

The Lamai Inn 99 also has some rather spiffy rooms, if cheap isn't your prime concern. They're right above the beach, all windows facing the sea.

 

Only thing bad about staying there was that I had a family with kids as neighbours on each side. Sooo... Maybe not the best choice of accommodation if you're planning to flaunt your mongering activities

I always stay there. The poolside rooms are much better than the beachfront ones (unless they refurbished them). If you're 2 guys get one of each. The lanai on the beach rooms is a great place to hang. Excellent bar right next door 'Chillin' and short walk to the pussy. I I love it but don't go to KS much anymore. I just hate getting ass-fucked by BKK Air. Koh Chang ends up so much cheaper.

Last year I stayed at the Weekender Resort on Lamai Beach.

It was on the beach and across the street from the BB area with the boxing ring.. Reasonably priced but it's not a budget choice.

Lamai has a great beach and a good amount of bars in 3 or 4 locations all withing walking distance of each other. A wonderful budget hotel right in the centre of town in a quiet soi is the Bonny hotel. I have stayed there 3 times now and it is convenient with fantastic staff. GF too.
