Your European dream team (Football)

I have always thought about footballing dream team combinations & decided to put my thoughts in to paper. Seeing that the BMs are primarily of European origin, or at least those who respond to the sports section, I have restricted the thread to European players only (we can always have a world team later on).

 

Firstly, I would like to state that my exposure to European football began around the late 80’s (that’s because of my age LOL) & hence my dream team combination is slightly contemporary in nature, I, however, have included legends wherever felt necessary, so no disrespect to great players of erstwhile generations.

 

So I will put down my choice of players, I have selected a 4-1-3-2 formation.

 

1). Goalkeeper: Peter Schmeichel

2). Left Back: Paolo Maldini

3). Central defender: Franco Baresi

4). Central defender: Bobby Moore

5). Right Back: Phillip Lahm

 

6). Sweeper/Libero: Franz Beckenbauer

 

7). Central Midfield: Zinedine Zidane

8). Left Midfield: Christiano Ronaldo

9). Right Midfield: David Beckham

 

10). Striker 1: Marco Van Basten

11). Striker 2: Gerd Muller
