Visa/Mastercards Etc...

I used the credit cards Visa as my flexible friend to pay me around Pattaya but had to be careful

in case i went too far.. Years ago, i went to USA for holidays, i lost track of how much i spend,

Shocked when i got the Visa bill, over estimated than i thought.. So, i learned my lessons, i carry a little book

to keep track on Credits card spending daily, it worked out great for me ever since.. I only use Credit cards

to withdraw the money from ATM or the Banks,I dont use them to buy clothes from shops or Restaurants, Scam

oftens used that way....

I live on my credit card, but I pay my balance in full every month. I only use my frequent flyer visa and that earns me a free round trip ticket to Asia every 20 months or so.

I put everything I possibly can on my credit card like utility and cable bills, gym memberships and other recurring bills. If you have a loyalty or rebate card and pay the bill in full every month, it costs you $0 in interest and can save quite a bit of money.

Good poll , i hate useing my visa card because everytime i get home i think am going to pay them of fast never do .

But i pay the hotels on them and when all my cash as gone , most time the last few days of a trip i will get some cash out from the ATM.

I like the idea of making notes of what you paying for with them cheers..................

try not to use it as it is for emergencies only!!!

surprising what you can tell yourself is an emergency when its the last few days in patts!!

hotels lead to money for food leading to money for beer and then of course money for ladies!

still easy to pay off when u get home and cant be arsed with the local scene

If you open a UK nationwide bs account they give you a visa/debit card which they do not charge you for taking money out from any ATM worldwide.

I pay my credit cards monthly but i do have £18,000 sterling credit limit which is crazy

I just use one to book flights and hotels in UK prior to going, then its just pocket money.

I pay my balance off every month so that I don't have to pay interest.

I very rarely use it in Thailand as there is too much risk involved with doing that.

If you pay your balance in full every month, your effective interest rate is 0%.

Ironically, that 18.9% is almost the same amount my brokerage account returns each year. I've averaged 18.1% since 2000. Not too shabby.

i use to be one of those people who thinks its dangerous to use credit cards. till i saw others using it and saw what they did to make it WORK FOR THEM!.....

now days i use it for everything.. i push the card to the limit without going over then i rack up the points/miles...

just think. if you do this then your credit score gets better. plus free flights and other item ( cash backs, gift cards.etc.)

-----

i will never use a credit/debit card in LOS.. thats just asking for something bad to happen imo...

but it sure would help my racking up miles if the girls started accepting my amex for payment.... :10:

its BETTER to be PISSED OFF then PISSED ON!!!..

Right after my divorce from my Thai wife I was $13,000 in debt. At the time i was not making much and it took about 2 years to pay off. Since then I have never put more on the card that I can't pay off in a single month. The problems really start when you can't pay off the balance, the interest alone becomes a beast you can't control.

It actually wasn't that bad, only a few thousand. The expenses came from trips to Thailand and buying her and her family everything under the sun. Glad that period of my life is over.

Run up maximum on a load of credit cards and dissapear in Pattaya . Never track you down . Get thousands of pounds in UK and just run and hide .

You can be on the right track and still get hit by a train .

Brilliant Idea, but where and how will you put thousands of pounds in Pattaya, Bank? bank need a copy of your passports to open an account

Then your account will traced by the credits cards people... :) Thinking of stashing thousands under your mattress, too risky with

Simple , just stash the money in your bank account in this country ( UK ) , Transfer it all via Western Union to a trusted Thai Girl - don't laugh there are some - then she opens bank account in her name .

You meet up with her and live happily ever after , cannot see any problems with that cunning plan ? :D
