The French do a lot of exotic stuff well. But for a long time what was the most impressive thing about eating out in France was that you could get simple dishes, impeccably prepared, pretty much everywhere. Cheap too.

Here at the Voodoo, it's like being back 'home' - great home cooking, a homely atmosphere, with the nicest staff. Cooking a simple dish just right is easier said than done. But Pim has nailed it. The fillet steak is perfect. Rare, tasty, with a delicious garlic butter. Home made chips, delicious. Grilled tomato, mushrooms. Likewise.

The fish fingers (with fries) weren't exactly Birds Eye shape, but they were real fish, not factory-produced mush.. and my daughter's verdict was a big thumbs-up.

The other photos are of Saturday's lunch, grilled steak with side salad and a superb balsamic vinaigrette, garlic bread, 370 baht. Again, spot on.

It was a big chunk of fillet, Thai, but perfectly cooked and very tasty. The prices at Voodoo are pitched about right I reckon. They reflect the care that has gone into sourcing good products, and the high standards of the chef in preparing the dish, without being too expensive.

Very nice people run this place. It's not in my area, so i don't frequent the place, but the times I've been there everything has been very nice.
