Beefeater Steak House & Pub on Soi Diana is my favorite place for a steak dinner in Pattaya.

post-9139-0-11923500-1404523850.jpg

You can enter from both Soi Diana and the arcade walkway.

post-9139-0-71629700-1404523860.jpg

The quality of the food is high, the prices are reasonable and the location is perfect for me.

post-9139-0-68458800-1404523848.jpg

It's often crowded and can be difficult to get a table if you just walk in.

post-9139-0-91211400-1404524916.jpg

One point that irks me is the menu is written in English and Swedish, but there's no Thai text or picture menu. That can make it difficult for Thai ladies to order, but the wait staff are helpful in that respect.

Clearly, beef in various forms is the focus. The stars of show are the steaks imported from Australia.
Tow nights ago I had the 200 gram (7 oz) fillet for 595 baht.

post-9139-0-49123600-1404523827.jpg

I ordered it medium-rare and it came perfectly cooked.

post-9139-0-46022300-1404523830.jpg

It was very tender and flavorful, as good as any steak I've had in Pattaya.

The steaks come with your choice of potato (baked, fried, French fries or au gratin) and sauce.

post-9139-0-03416300-1404525826.jpg

I'm very much a purist about steak. With a few exceptions, sauce should be served on the side and that's exactly how it came. There were several sauces or herb butters available. I took the gorgonzola sauce, not to put on the meat but on the baked potato. It was very creamy and the gorgonzola taste wasn't over-powering.

post-9139-0-92143000-1404523846.jpg

My dining companion had the BBQ Beef Skewer, which consisted of chunks of beef and a few pieces tomato and onion. It came with a baked potato, coleslaw, grilled corn on the cob and a variety of sauces for 495 baht.

post-9139-0-64441600-1404524801.jpg

Another night I had the plank(ed) steak for 495 baht. The meat, bearnaise sauce and mashed potatoes were excellent.

Again, the meat was cooked as ordered, medium-rare.

post-9139-0-08879500-1404524911.jpg

My companion that night had the surf and turf, which consisted of 200-gram steak and six medium-sized shrimp on a skewer for 695 baht. She chose the baked potato.

She insisted on giving me a couple of her shrimp. They were OK, but not particularly flavorful.

post-9139-0-00638200-1404524901.jpg

The garnishes- asparagus stalks wrapped in bacon and a grilled tomato - did have a lot of flavor and were positive additions to the meal.

Both of the meals had been preceded by bowls of "homemade" tortilla chips and salsa.

post-9139-0-05674600-1404524805.jpg

One Saturday afternoon we tried the "all-you-can-eat" Mexican buffet at 295 baht per person. It was good, although not outstanding and more Tex-Mex than real Mexican. But you certainly get a lot of food at a bargain price. It is available between noon and 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

post-9139-0-68809200-1404524922.jpg

The "hot honey" ribs were the best dish, very tasty and cooked well.

post-9139-0-08095700-1404528341.jpg

The buffet featured three types of chili (the familiar chili con carne with ground beef and beans; Texas chili with chunks of beef and minus the beans; and African chili, which I didn't try).

post-9139-0-99028900-1404528338.jpg

There were numerous other dishes as well, including chicken and thinly-sliced roast beef.

post-9139-0-44465900-1404528342.jpg

There was also a "taco bar" which I didn't photograph because it had been hit hard by the time we got there and the trays with ingredients were mostly empty. I did snap the large selection of condiments, sauces and other fixings to go with the tacos.

post-9139-0-53674800-1404524919.jpg

My plate that afternoon.

post-9139-0-78002300-1404528343.jpg

Bottom line: Beefeater is a great place for steaks and other beef dishes. Get there early and have sharp elbows if you want the weekend buffet.

Seconded.

I ate there a few nights ago. Had a lovely pepper steak, with salad etc and desert / Benedictine at the end.

It pays to book ahead, although my wait for a table (just for two) was only 10-15 mins.

Nice place. Had a great night there.

Spot on review

I have had many meals in the Beefeater over the years

All have been top quality but I normally have a steak so can not really comment on the rest of the menu

this review has reminded me of the Beefeater weekend buffet

It is now approx 11.30 am Saturday morning

I am now off to the Beefeater for my breakfast

Looks like the OP has an interest in this place. 555!

I've had many a good steak at Beefeater over the past 10 years. I'm in the minority and like my steak 'well done' but I can say, Beefeater will cook well done and it's still tender and flavoursome. I have had arguments with chefs in Australia when they tell me they can't cook well done and still retain the flavour and keep it tender. This is bullshit and Beefeater is proof you can.

The 'planked steak' is my favourite, always spot on. If I want a steak, I don't muck around with 250 baht steak in Thai restaurants, I go to Beefeater and pay 5-600 baht and I know it'll be good. The only place that ranks as highly is Mantra (great ambience) but how often do you want to spend 2,000 baht for a steak with ambience?

Small correction, the buffet used to be (and as far as I know still is) billed as a Tex-Mex buffet. The Texas chili is really good, as is the roast beef. One of the best value buffets in Pattaya.

Her rack was one of the things that stuck out about that meal at Beefeater and featured prominently in my enjoyment of it.

Nice review!

I also like this place a lot. Well, been there only 3 times but all 3 times steak was very nice. Would like to visit more often, but nowadays been eating mostly 40-80baht thaidishes and 600baht for meal sounds huge money now:(
