Thai Security - joke or what ?

Seems like anybody can put on a uniform and blow a whistle , security they call themselves . But what would they be like in a nasty situation , mugger or robber for instance . Most ones I have come across just want a tip to wave you out of a parking place , or , to open hotel door for you .

 

Are they any use ? Not saying we don't need them but saw a gang of falang drunks taking the piss out of one small guy , and he just smiled at them , I would have coshed them on the spot .

Once I came back to my hotel late at night and found the securty guy sleeping on one of the sofas in the

lobby. Must have been a hard day for him.

They are always asleep , if not then they are eating or drinking . Gissa job , I can do that !

Its not as bad as it sounds, theu get 2 thirty minute breaks during that shift.

Some of the security guys have a second job also. The younger guard at Queen Vic does the security deal overnight, but drives a motorbike taxi during the day. When I came back past 3AM, both guards were always asleep. I had to wake them up so they could take the girls ID cards.

Yes the security guard at our last office was there in the morning when we arrived, then when we left late at night, he was still there (but usually asleep) cant believe how long they work, when do they get chance to go home?!?

they really get nothing for free there , cant imagine that even that people have second jobs

if you already fall asleep at your work man you cant do that too loong , that kills you

LOL, soozing panda seems ubercool! :-)

I never saw them having to deal with difficult situation....But I guess they avoid some just by their presence, and maybe cause they have some good "connections", if you see what I mean...;) Anyway I guess the pay is quite poor and it is just something all hotel must have, because the other do ;-)

The guys are always sympathic though, and this without tips entering into the equation: just a smile, a hello, and they are happy...so I like them, and I am happy too even if I would not count on them for real security...
