A British woman has been killed in a hit-and-run collision in Thailand, the Foreign Office confirmed.

Jennifer Burden, 26, died after being struck by a car while on holiday in Pattaya.

Police are still trying to trace the driver of the vehicle and an investigation is under way.

Miss Burden, who is originally from the Scottish village of Airth near Falkirk, had been travelling in Thailand at the time of the accident, the Daily Record reported.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "I can confirm that a British national, Jennifer Burden, died on June 16th in a hit-and-run accident while on holiday in Pattaya, Thailand.

"We are providing consular assistance and an investigation is ongoing to trace the driver.

"The family are aware."

He said there were currently no further details about the accident.

Former colleagues paid tribute to Miss Burden, who had worked for a Nottingham-based IT firm.

Her former boss Karle Dukes told the Record: “Jennifer was always very lively.

She was the life and soul of the party.

"She was just a typical vibrant young woman who got on well with her clients and colleagues.
