Two Elderly English Men brutally attacked following road accident

A scene of chaos greeted Police who were called to the “Made in Thailand” car park in North Pattaya in the early hours of Tuesday Morning. At the scene two foreign men were lying unconscious on the ground and a car and two pick-ups were damaged following an apparent collision. Mr. John Snelders aged 71 and Mr. Benjamin Lloyd aged 80, both from England eventually came round and received treatment for their injuries at the scene and were later transferred to Hospital. Both were inside their Toyota Vios pick-up, at the time of the crash. The driver of the car involved in the crash was Police Senior Sergeant Major Chiwit from Pattaya Police Station who was off-duty at the time. Two Thai Men in the other pick-up involved in the crash did not remain at the scene and were thought to have attacked the two elderly English Men, according to the Police Officer. He further explained that he was attempting to clear the accident with all three parties involved, however the two English Men were not cooperating. The other two Thai Men involved in the case proceeded to attack the two English men and ran away. Police are now searching for the two attackers at this time.

Slightly old news but if the reporting is correct I am absolutely disgusted by this. I've not been able to find any further information but it sounds like Police Senior Sergeant Major Chiwit just watched while two Thais beat the crap out of the old men. This cop should be locked away and left to rot in hell.

I think that there is more and more resentment building up against farang ex-pats in places like Pattaya. Great big housing estates filled with beautiful home filled with Farangs who never seem to do a days work. You can see how Thais, particularly Thai men might get envious and resentful.

It's a shameful side to the Thais that thankfully you still don't see that often. Unfortunately it does seem to be becoming more common though and it often just takes one incident for it all to come to the surface. It's very easy to be so taken in by the Thais naturally calm, pleasant nature and forget that when they do turn violent "Queensbury rule" are straight out of the window.

Understand this! If there is an accident in Thailand between a Farrang and a Thai,it is ALWAYS the Farrangs fault-end of story  It has been like this for years and years. It is absolutely a must to have insurance or you'll be truly shafted

You can argue till your blue in the face, but in the end-you are at fault-it's fucked up I know, but thats how it works here

The old guys were at fault even if they weren't really-Just out of interest-what would most board members had done if they witnessed this beating (with cop watching on)?

:D

So you drive a car in Thailand, you have an accident, maybe not your fault, you are 80 years old, the Thai driver and his passengers beat you unconscious and this is to be expected?

I'm sure it's not just economic resentment. If day in and day out, I saw hordes of foreigners come into my country to fuck my women, I'd be a tad bitter also. Regardless, violence especially toward the elderly should never occur.

We don't know exactly what happened. Old people can't be wankers? Yes they can. These two could have never worked a day in their lives for all we know.

That said, I've read - on his board I think - recently about how Thais respect the elderly more. That's not my experience. I worked in BKK for 18 months and an old Thai guy - vey infirm - used to get on my bus. He could barely hold on to theh pole. Guess how many Thais gave up their seat in 3 months? NONE. Really. Not one. In fact only one guy offered him a seat and that was me. He looked at me like I was mad.

It's always surprised me how little resentment I have seen from Thai man as regards to being with their women.

Sure there's a bit of sexual resentment as well, there are also a lot of Thai guys who get their motorbikes paid for from the proceeds of their "girlfriends" activities with farangs. Also Thai men tend to see Thai women that have worked in the industry as damaged goods.

It's worth remembering that Thai people probably do not share our westernised Judo-Christian value vis a vie sex.

There is bad people with temper problems everywhere and looks like these 2 got an extreme dose of road rage.

I've heard from some friends who have travelled in Thailand that Pats tends to attract a dis proportionate number of 'bad' thai's so the chances of getting trouble may be higher there.

Could be the 'Vegas' syndrome in it's infancy.

Pattaya seems to attract a lot of bad Thais, Americans, Canadians, English, French, Indians, Middle Easterners, Australians, Germans, etc. :GrinNod1:

Good point about Thais having a different view from our Christian mindset. I had never thought of that.

Quite often it is a case of "Familiarity breeds contempt" To Thais who live up-country (as most of them do) Farangs are still a bit of a novelty. Thais who live in Pattaya get plenty of opportunities to see us at our worst.

It would be hard for one of the Thai guys who works at say Go Go bars to not get fed up. They are working for a relative pittance compared to the amount of money they see wasted (in their eyes) every night of the week.

I am not trying to justify their behaviour, just to understand why it might happen.

You all are acting like Thais don't sometimes beat up Thai drivers at accident scenes. In fact, it happens all the time. So this might've had nothing to do with the fact that the two poor chaps here were farang.
