Wheres the best cinema in pattaya?

 

And another (dumb?) question, if its an american movie, is it subbed in thai? And if its a thai movie, does it have english subtitles?

it will say on the poster / board with timing. what it will and wont have.. but all english movies i saw have have thai sub..

not sure about thai movies.. last one i saw had eng sub.. but boy was the sub wrong.LOL...55555

its BETTER to be PISSED OFF then PISSED ON!!!..

Major Cineplex in the Avenue on 2nd Road opposite soi 13 is good. Almost new with 8 screens (I think). Movies in English have Thai subtitles and most Thai movies have English subtitles. This is a good website with all the movie times http://www.movieseer.com/

You can get a double 'love seat' at the 2nd Road complex. Not cheap but fun with the right girl!

Maybe you don't have to stand up if you're falang but it's polite to do so. And from my experience other thai people

look bad at you if you don't. I think they just expect it from you to honor the king. And it's ok - no big deal.

I dont think it is the law but then again I would like to avoid the possibility of being stabbed and thrown in a dumpster over the sake of 30 seconds standing up.

Is that the norm in Pattaya? When I was at Major Cineplex last month, none of the Thai movies had English subtitles.

Not all the movies have Englist subs but some do. Language and subs will be next to the movie title at the box office.

I am partial to Big C SF cinema complex....my first cinema in thailand, so it has a kind of sentimental value ;-)....also they tend to choose more cheesy SF movies than other, which is fine by me too ;-)

 

Screens are big, projection not too bad, sound OK, and subtitle for most of the movies (for me, thai with english subtitle is ideal, as a non native english speaker reading english is much easier than understand some accents...)

Only problem is that they put the aircon crazily cold: I always take extra clothes for me and the girl I invite....

 

Standing during the thai anthem is advised, not sure it is illegal not to (a thai lady was risking prison sentence for not to, so be careful: I suspect it would not go that far, for a farang but some tea money asked by the cops is quite probable), but it sure is impopular (while standing up is popular and no big deal...) . I even find standing quite funny and part of the experience, I am standing up faster than most of the thais in the room nowadays LOL...

Hmm I remember the first time I went to cinema in Bangkok it was with a BG, she practicaly dragged my out of my seat spilling popcorn and coke everywhere, I was like WTF.

Anyway I'm pretty sure there is a law about it, and yes take a jacket thier AC is mad cold.

The BBQ popcorn is highly recomended.

That sounds very interesting and certainly not something I could get back home. Any other unique snacks I should be aware of at the cinema? I love trying new foods.

I've been to them all in Patts, there all pretty fine, although the

newer on in California Ave is my favorite....but in BKK,

there are some really nice/fancy newer cinemas......

 

depends: you have to read the listing, sometimes American movies

are still in English with subtitles in Thai and vs. versa.

Im in Pattaya at the mo and will definately go down to check out the cinemas on 2nd road.

Watch out for scams in LOS !! The biggest one is, when you come to Thailand "your in pocket", when you leave you've been sucked dry!

No, but if you don't take warm clothing it will suck. I have no idea why they crank the AC on so High it must cost them a fortune. If you get the VIP Love seats they give you a blanket. Well worth the money. The seat are like your at home. :Bravo1: BTW, Dark Night was great!
