£430 from London to Bkk next week

I have just seen a deal for £430 from London to Bkk with Sri Lankan airways, however, there is a 10 hour stopover in sri lanka on the outbound flight.

 

Does anyone know if you are allowed out of the airport? and if so is there anything to do near the airport?

Fuck that mate , next week with Thai. £500. who needs a 10hr stopover i just wish i could go next week .......

Check the Sri Lanken Consular website to see if a visa is required or if you can get a visa on arrival.

No visa means you cannot enter past immigration and customs. You will have to wait in the airport for the entire layover. I've been in the airport just as long before so I feel your pain.

Cheers guys, i'm a budget hunter when it comes to travel and have no problem with stopovers etc although i would much prefer to get out and see the place i'm stopping off at.

 

£500 with Thai seems very good and if I cant get out of the airport on stopover i'll give it a go. A £70 saving equates to almost 3 soapies when i'm in paradise.

 

I'll check out the embassy site to see what they say.

Normally you must stay in the airport as your baggage will be going to your final destination and they dont seperate you from that.

Not nice them Tamil Tigers stay away from them , Keswick i get what you saying about the soapies but time you spend money at the airport and sit around pay a bit more and have more time in lop , any how Ebookers doing Gulf for about£ 484 and much better stop-over , you still be saving 16 pound .......................

if your willing to wait 10 hours in an airport, go for it.

 

if it was me, i would rather pay the extra and get a direct flight out to bkk. saying that, direct flights are not cheap this time of the year, so your in a no-win-situation.

I would agree with one of the comments, a long layover isn't always bad....

you get a great opportunity to see another country on S-T

and see if it is worth coming again L -T .

 

 

...and yes, I always check on visa regs. prior....

They are top of league for overbooking flights, 400 seats 500 turn up, they have fun and games at check in, airport staff stay on after clocking out to watch the antics....I flew with them once, they had 140 from the previous day it was chaos, I volunteered to get bumped and I got got a free flight, I flew out two days later after two nights in a decent hotel...

 

When I took the free they was overbooked again but I had no hassles and was boarded...

 

Some airports have a secure city tour you board a coach go for a drive and come back to the airport it may be worth looking into, a 10 hour stopover will have you climbing the walls, take the Thai flight...
