has anyone had any problems with bike hire companys? i have recently had a hire bike stolen form the hotel car park, which by the way had two security gurads on duty and CCTV. The hire document was writen in Thai and english. one of 7 terms reads " During the contract period the vehicle carries comprehnsive insurance due to agreement between the renter and rentee".

Then for some reaqson the next line is in thai efore its states i have read and accept the trems and conditions of the agrrement ( in english).

My problem is that the thai version , this parapraph reads the same but adds only applies to accident damage. Is this a clever loop hole in the law to ensure they never lose out or do i have a legal case as i signed the agreement in English. and gave them my british passport number ( just a copy, still have my pass port locked safely away).

and my second question , know any good cheep lawyers, im a volunteer here so dont get a salary.

I would suspect that the bike was taken by the people renting you the bike. It used to be an old scam they ran, which is why i never used to give them my real address. Thanks you not the first person to mention that, just had a call from the hotel they have miraculaously lost the video from that night, so cant take it to the police, also the owner is asking 25k bht for a 4 year old bike, saw a simular one in a show room , the same age for 13k so got some serious negotiations to do . will keep the site posted.

yamat, please name the bike hire company and hotel, it may avoid another BM being ripped off.

Sounds like the motorbike rental shop stole the bike, especially after the hotel "lost" the video from the night.

 

 

Just as gogo dog says, post the name of the hotel and the rental shop.
