While it is correct that it might prove to be a security concern, note that ATM's are ususally not running a consumer version of XP.

These machines are usally running Windows XP Embedded, that is basically a stripped down version of XP with a minimum of services running.

 

That means that even though XP might be vunerable to future exploits and securityholes, XP Embedded might be unaffected.

If XP would get compromised to a serious level in it's embedded form as well, which is pretty ulikely, then Microsoft would probably release a patch anyways.

 

So I's a concern yes, but not a serios one for the consumers.

Rather might be an issue for Microsoft if an exploit is found, but unlikly it should affect XP Embedded.
