Ekkamai to Pattaya

Anyone know what time the last bus runs from Ekkamai to Pattaya?

Are there different types of buses, first class etc? Prices? They run every 40 minutes?

Anyone know what the baht buses charge from the Pattaya Nua bus station to 3rd Road and Pattaya Tai or do they just travel down to Beach Road?

And does anyone know what's the first bus in the morning that leaves from Pattaya to Ekkamai?

Any chance of the buses being all filled up midweek?

Thnx. :Bravo1:

I think the buses run from about 6 am to 10pm I dont really know.

The bus trip is currently 117 baht, and I thought they only did to Pattaya Nua and not drive around the city.

As far as I am aware the buses are every 20-30 minutes and there is only one class available.

I did catch a bus at 7.10 am in Pattaya to Ekamai, I am sure there are earlier ones. I have never found a full bus, but I have always got there when there are still plenty of tickets, get there early IMO

If you're a taller person, you might think about buying two seats as there is NO legroom at all. I'm 188cm and learned my lesson after the first painful two hour ride with my knees buried in the seatback in front of me. I bought two seats side by side on the return and actually got a little sleep on the way.

There are actually 2 types of buses that leave from Ekkami. The bus station is only a block or so from the BTS stop. The 98 baht bus is what you might refer to as a "local" bus, as it stops at every little city enroute to Pattaya. The trip takes nearly 4 hours, but it can drop you off near the bus station near Pattaya Tai (by the Big C), and follows on to Jomtien.

The 120 baht bus is more like an "express" bus that leaves less frequently, but is much faster (about 2 hours depending on traffic, maybe less now that the expressway construction is finished). This bus only stops at the bus station on Pattaya Nua (North Pattaya Road). You can hire a songtaew (baht bus) for 150 baht to take you to your hotel, but they will all start out asking for 300 baht. For Cheap Charleys (like Me), you can take a songtaew heading West on Pattaya Nua. You have a 33% chance that it will go south upon reaching the dolphin roundabout (some will turn north toward Naklua, some will U turn and return east on Pattaya Nua). If required, you can change sontaews and head south down beach road.

Granted, this way of transport will not work for most of us BM. Personally, I try to travel as light as possible, and have a big backpack that I limit myself to. I think that for most BM, a taxi hire is the most convenient and expeditious, and I have used these services many times (most cost about 1200-1500 baht). For me, part of the whole LOS experience is reliving my younger years when the journey was all part of the fun, and I can still physically do it.

Cheers,

Strike
