Passport renewal

Featured Replies

Just wonder if I could use the boards expertise with a small matter I have.

My daughters passport runs out in August. I have just booked her a flight to Spain with my Mum in June. Does anybody know if she needs her passport renewed before the trip - i.e. there would only be two months left on the passport. I know some countries require 6 months left on a passport but was wondering if this applied to Spain as Spain is in the EU?

I am off to Thailand in 3 days so running out of time to get application sorted before I go and if I leave it til I am back have only 4 weeks.

Any help appreciated

MO, have a word with the spanish embassy but she should be fine with her current passport!

It can be renewed through the Post Office for a small fee. They check it all out before sending it off, and usually takes less than a week before coming back. You'll need a proper set photo now as it has to pass a biometric scan - they won't accept it otherwise.

I believe the passport just has to be valid if you are an EU national; other than that it must be valid for at least 3 months from the date of entry. Choice is yours!

It's been the ruin of many a poor boy, and God, I know, I'm one.

An Australian passport has to have at least 6 months left from the date you return.

traveling ANYwhere requires at least six months validity on your passport from the date you depart, it's a Worldwide requirement
