Travelling around on a single ticket

I am planning a short side trip to Malaysia and Singapore. I want to travel to these destinations on a single ticket and then book onwards when I feel I have experienced enough rather than pre-booking my onward travel. However, I have noticed that under the immigration section it mentions:

All visitors must have proof of adequate funds and an onward or return sea or air ticket

So would I be expected to show documents on arrival and as such need to pre-book my travel and work within these times confines?

one way to do it is buy a fully refundable ticket for return home. once you are thru immigration, get your refund. then do as you like once you are there.

If it floats, flies or fucks, RENT IT!!!!! "He who hesitates, masturbates"
