The commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau has designed calendars to be distributed around police stations and educational institutes to increase effectiveness in preventing crime.

BANGKOK – December 19, 2013 [PDN]; at 4.30 p.m. a journalist reported that at the Central Investigation Bureau, Pol. Lt. Gen. Phongphat Chayaphan (Commissioner) had made 6,000 Science calendars to be distributed to the police officers including various educational institutes for publicising further. The Police Science calendars are 3 page pamphlets which explain about the modern detective work.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Phongphat revealed that in the past Thailand was ranked comparatively with many countries but Thailand still had lots of crime problems. He had analysed the crime that occurred in the past and found that the important factor is the police officers must have the knowledge in their field of work to be effective.

The content of the Police Science calendars is about detection and investigation which categorises the detection styles in the past and present. For example the past detection would detect from internal to external which there were the inspection at the crime scene, considering from criminal methods, using science and the thought of police to judge. Meanwhile, the modern detection has different practice such as the detection from internal to external and from external to internal, the integration of the crime scene, the consideration from the criminal methods with the criminal’s signature, the analysis of the criminal’s thought, etc. Besides, there is the classification of the culprits in Thailand into 4 main categories that are: 1. General culprits 2. Psychopathic culprits 3. Mood Disorder culprits and 4. Cockeyed culprits.

The commissioner said further that if the police have knowledge in modern detection, they will be able to reduce crime and at the same time the police will solve the problems directly e.g in the case of a fictional Cartoon girl the police were notified that she was missing from the area of Baring sky train station which after the police were informed they must order the police officers to rush to the scene with the sirens sounding on the car and when the people see the police car going past with the lights and sirens going they may question what’s happened and may be able to assist with information or important clues to find the girl. Moreover, at the incident with the hostage the officers should know how to secure the hostage. However, children, women and elderly are the perfect victims which are the gender with age that cannot fight against the culprits extremely well as they don’t have capability to protect themselves.
