Unlocking iphone 4 IOS 6.1.3 info on 3G

Hey fellas, I know nothing about phone tech

I usually bring a Japanese CMDA to Thailand but the global roaming charges are off the charts for local calls.

However, I can get Iphone 4 or 3 for next to nothing here, to bring over.

Q; Can these Japanese iphone's be unlocked and simmed up? I assume its just a iphone, so no problem?

also, I read that if they been updated to new version software, there is a problem.

The 3G has been unlocked ( not factory) and had jailbreak (WTF is that??)

Any recommendation on best shop in Pats

Thanks in advance, cheers

Jailbreaking is the name given to the process used to modify the operating system running on an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to allow the user greater control over their device, including the ability to remove Apple-imposed restrictions and install apps obtained and other content through means other than the official App Store

Go to tukcom heaps of phone shops there.

Cheers,

I grabbed the iphone 4 just $20 so I'll take it down to tukcom and see what can be done, just for BG calls

True Corp and CAT Telecom will switch off their separate CDMA (code division multiple access) cellular networks nationwide at the end of March, ending more than 12 years of the CDMA cellular business in the Thai market. ....

.. You might be out of luck ...

Thai phone carriers use GSM frequencies. ..

.. Does your IPhone have GSM capabilities?

... Google "CDMA + Thailand"

The above thread ( sorry can not make link on my phone ... Cut/paste to read)

... Suggests that all IPhones have GSM capabilities ...

... So Tukcom is a good place to start ...

... I do not use Apple products so I do not know for sure ...

.. Good luck .

Hmmm.. well I have been using my Japanese CMDA, which up till now had been ok in LOS, however any charges are crazy expensive, as whenever I use it worldwide.

So the iphone 4 just seems like an easy Thai option for basic use.

Thanks for your input
