An oil slick was spotted floating in the clear waters off Ta Waen – Koh Larn island which prevented the tourists from swimming. The officers of the Harbour Department and Pattaya inspected the area to locate the leaking boat.

PATTAYA – December 7, 2013 [PDN]; the officers of Harbour Department and Pattaya city went to inspect Ta Waen beach – Koh Larn island, Chonburi province after they were informed that there was a lot of black oil floating dispersedly all over the sea. When the officers arrived at the scene they found a large amount of thick black crude oil floating in the sea and also some of the oil had been washed up on the beach. The officers were very concerned because the Thai and foreign tourists would not go swimming due to the health risks from the crude oil.

Later, more than 50 officers cleaned up the oil stains along the beach which took more than 4 hours to complete. The Harbour Department will continue to search and locate the boat which is the source of these oil stains and prosecute the trouble maker according to Thai law further.
