School Bus Driver Acted Indecency With A 7-Year-Old Girl

A school bus driver from a school in Laem Chabang has been arrested after he indecently assaulted a 7 year old student .

CHONBURI – November 27,2013; at Laem Chabang police station, Amphur Sriracha, Chonburi province, Mrs. Paweena Hongsakul (The Minister of Social Developent and Human Stability and the Chairman of Paweena Hongsakul Foundation For Children And Women) together Pol. Col. Sakraphee Pheawphanich (Superintendent of Laem Chabang police station) made a statement about arresting Mr. Wichai Don-em, aged 58, who is the school bus driver in the allegation of acting indecency with a child.

The parents of girl A (alias), aged 7, who is a student a school in Laem Chabang municipality notified Paweena Hongsakul Foundation For Children And Women and the police of Laem Chabang police station that their daughter had been indecently assulted by Mr. Wichai (the school bus driver). The incident occurred at 10.00 a.m. on November 19, 2013. They were informed by the class teacher that their daughter hadn’t come to school and the teacher saw that all students get off the school bus Mr. Wichai didn’t let their daughter get off the bus and drove away. The class teacher then drove after him and found that Mr. Wichai was heading in the direction to Sriracha then he made a phone call to Mr. Wichai but he claimed that the car had broken down.

Mr. Wichai then took the girl to the class teacher but the teacher observed that tshe was frightened and crying and was suffering from pain in her genital area so the teacher her to Laem Chabang police station. Then the police investigated the victim girl with the interdisciplinary system according to the law of youth protection to gather all evidences and submitted to Chonburi provincial court to issue the arrest warrant so the police could arrest the defendant. Upon his arrest confessed to all allegations. He tried to use money to pay the family so they wouldn’t prosecute him but the parents refused and insisted that he was prosecuted.

Mrs. Paweena said that she would like to praise the teacher and the school for paying attention to all the students and would like to warn the school and parents to check for the history and behaviour of the school bus drivers in order to prevent this type of incident happening again.

For the victim girl, she will be taken care of by the officers of Ministry of Social Development and Human Stability in order to rehabilitate.
