Conjunctivitis Epedemic in Pattaya

slightly

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Can anyone help me out with a problem I have come across.

I read a post 2 weeks ago where someone got Conjuctivitis from a TG whist having sex.

He said she was continually rubbing her eyes & must have passed it on to him, during sex, as he ended up with a rash on his meat & 2 veg & very inflamed eyes.

I saw a guy 3 nights ago in Soi Skeauw Beach who was in a real bad way with his eyes.

He told me the doctor said he had a bad case of Conjunctivitis

Now I have it in my eyes & on trousersnake.

Whats going on in town ?

Does anyone know what medication I should take

I am going back to UK next week, so any advice would be great

Go to a doctor.

I can recommend Pattaya International Hospital on Soi 3, they take care of both your problems.

If you want to save money go to a VD clinic for your snake and for your eyes visit Dr. Pann Clinic, 503/10, Central Road (between Carrefour and Foodland, but opposite side of the street). Dr. Pann is working on some days in the Pattaya International Hospital as well. If you go to her clinic you save some Baht.

Don't wait, an eye infection can take several weeks to to get rid of if not treated immediately, so don't wait till you go back home.

Working hours for Dr. Pann Clinic:

Mon., Tue., Thu. 17-20 h

Wed 17-19 h

Fri closed

Sat 9:30-12:30

Sun Dr. Pann is working at the Suchart clinic in Naklua

From another board:

"i got back from pattaya on jan 16, 4 days later my eye became itchy then my other eye started, then they got red, very red indeed ,5 days later i woke up blind totally blind and scared shitless, all i could do was press thr redial button on my phone which got hold of my mate and he came round my place and took me to hospital. in hospital i saw 3 dotors who didnt have a clue then i saw 3 eye specialists who didnt have a clue. its been 5 weeks now i was blind for 1 week ,i have scaring on my eyes and my corneas were shot to pieces,my left eye is permanantley damaged i have about 10 percent vision and can only see shades and colours, thankfully my right eye has improved but still dont know the long term affects this has had on my eye. a friend who looked after me while i was blind also caught it and her eyes are damaged and as i write this she is still blind ,again it attacked her corneas. apparently i caught an adenovirus and keratoconjuntivitis this is highly contagious and epidemic in asia,i didnt swim in pools and dont remember any one else with a dodgy eye.if you catch this get to an eye specialist a.s.a.p and prey to god. "

Don't want to make you overconcerned, but it's better to take immediate action.

And eye infections become truly epedemic during Songran, The water supplied from the bowsers has been sucked up from anywhere they can find standing water, so be careful.

Get treatment in LOS now.

If it's viral conjunctivitis it's a bugger to get rid of-your GP in UK will probably give you eye drops first off treating it as bacterial. Mine did,24 hours later I was an emergency case in the hospital eye clinic. Sorted eventually, but I had a similar experience to the horror story above.

You might want to go here-

i had same Feb 2006, lasted 3 weeks, developed on flight on way home lasted 3 weeks, English GP prescribed Gentamicin eye drops, didnt work, tried stronger dosage didnt work.

had eye oitment, didnt work.

eventually had oitment and antibiotics and an eye specialist appointment at hospital.

all cleared up but vision in left eye not entirely repaired, and still blurry when tired, had no problems at all before that trip.

so can speak first hand.

get ttreatment immediately.

I had viral conjunctivitis in 2004. Lasted about 3 weeks but fortunately made a complete recovery.

Water is definitely the primary transmitter of the little bugger, so beware.

The clinics in the sticks irrigate the eye fore about five minuets with sterile saline solution and the relief it gives is amazing .

Two weeks tablets follow but unless you are really careful about hygiene ( own towel washed daily ext.. ) then you just re infect yourself and others !

Get it treated through and the good side is you SEEM to build up an immunity and subsequent infections are much milder!

Don't use them filthy hand towels they leave hanging in the 5bht bogs at beer bar complexes.

Thats inviting a dose of conjunctivitis.

Good advice also. :Chokdee3:

Good advice also.

Thanks for all the good advice

I am now on medication & everything is clearing up.

I was shocked to read how sick some of you guys had been.

All everybody talks about is STDs which is understandable, but as this is so serious I think more people should be made aware about this health issue.

I had this flare up after a week of getting back - no idea where I picked it up

Mainly in the left eye started to spread to the right but cleared up just in time. Went to the optician who diagnosed it as chlamydia pink eye and prescribed 2 weeks of doxoy.

I was prescribed Tobradex - Vigamox - Nature tears (cleaning) - two different ointments none of which seemed to help at all....

in the end stopped using any of the above (stayed the course of tablets even though I seriously doubt I have chlamydia) and waited out till the third week it cleared up on its own (was told it was viral and would run itself out)

Not nice

Yep..Can relate to this topic cos I caught it myself in LOS and then passed it on to my tilak.

I'll leave the treatment to the medics but a few hints in order to prevent it are:-

1. Wear shades because bright sunshine can act as a trigger.

2. Wash your hands at every opportunity.

3. Never rub your eyes with your bare hands.

4. Wash you eyes out with optrex every day (it only takes 2 minutes)

5. Only dry your hands with the air machine or paper towels.

I had conjunctivitis some 10 days after I returned from Patts in November. I remember seeing a BG who had it. Mulphy too was suffering when I met up with him at his place.

It is a viral infection and as such does not have a medicinal cure. The eye drops are given for preventing (bacterial and algal) infection and for keeping the eyes lubricated. 3-5 days of discomfort is unavoidable. There is no threat to vision excepting in very rare cases...

Conjunctivitis is very common with chlamydia, it happened to me, my theory on that is because with chlamydia one of the symptons is irritable eyes, and with all the rubbing it gets transfered. My guess.
