A French man has been accused of climbing a wall to steal property from a room belonging to an instructor at Assumption University. The police viewed the CCTV footage then arrested the French thief and his girlfriend at his room but they both denied the accusation.

PATTAYA – November 24, 2013 [PDN]; At 4.30 a.m. Pol. Capt. Somchai Chaikhananukul (Deputy Inspector of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province) together with the volunteer police team arrested Mr. Meghirapui Mohamed, aged 33, French nationality and Ms. Boukazza Leila, aged 35 who is his girlfriend and the same nationality in their room of Daeng apartment which is located in Soi AR crosses with Pechtrakul road, central Pattaya, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

The police found 1 Polo shirt with short sleeves and a yellow collar that belonged to Mr. Meghrapui Mohamed. The police detained them for further investigation at Pattaya city police station. Mr. Meghrapui Mohamed was suspected of climbing the wall behind Daeng apartment and broke into room 2/1 on the second floor to steal property. The room belonged to Ms. Maneenate Weerarattanamanee, aged 36 (an instructor at Assumption University), she was out at the time with approximately 9 instructors at a badminton competition. Mr. Meghrapui Mohamed was accused of breaking into her room around 2.00 a.m. on November 24, 2013 while she was with her friends, he stole her purse with approximately 20,000 THB and some important documents, but the victim came back to her room and spotted the thief as he was climbing the wall behind her apartment to flee with the victim’s property. She could remember his face and noticed he was a foreign man wearing short sleeves Polo shirt with a yellow collar.

Upon the arrival of the police team the officers inspected the CCTV footage in the apartment which showed Mr. Meghrapui Mohamed who lives in the same apartment and also confirmed by the victim that he was the thief. The CCTV showed Mr. Meghrapui Mohamed walking around knocking the doors of many rooms in order to check whether there was somebody in or not and when he found that there was nobody in the victim’s room he climbed the wall behind the apartment and entered the back of the room. But as he was stealing her property she came back to her room and the thief escaped by climbing the wall behind the room.

Mr. Meghrapui Mohamed yelled to deny that he was not the thief. The police searched his room but they didn’t find any stolen property but they did find the short sleeved Polo shirt with a yellow collar that the thief wore therefore the police believed that he was really the thief that stole property from the victim and he might have hidden it somewhere else.

However, the victim confirmed clearly that Mr. Meghrapui Mohamed was the thief so the police detained Mr. Meghrapui Mohamed together with his girlfriend and sent them to be questioned further and to be prosecuted according to Thai law.
