The hugely successful first annual Bangkok Blues Festival in 2006 featured artists and performers from around the world and Thailand including Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket, making up an impressive list that was joined by renowned guitarist and performer Glenn Patrik from LA. The festival boasted a full international flavor with players based in the LOS from as far afield as Scotland, Australia, USA, Malaysia, Japan, Philippines, Denmark, Sweden, Thailand, England, and Ireland delivering three nights of blues as diverse as their various backgrounds and influences.

The 2007 second annual Bangkok Blues Festival went on to deliver more of the same quality music and performances but in the much larger venue that is Tokyo Joe's new premises. Kansas City Bluesman Glenn Patrik wowed the crowd once again as headliner of the second installment of this annual event. The BBF 2007 was also joined by Serious Trouble from Malaysia and Boy Blues Band from Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Bangkok Blues Festival 2008 will once again showcase some of the best blues in Thailand and the region and will be welcoming back Kansas City Bluesman Glenn Patrik as headliner. The festival promises to deliver 12 bands over 3 nights and with the bands lined up to attend these will be nights to remember!! The confirmed lineup is as below:

Great stuff. Is this usually at the same time of year, each year? And do some of the US legends come over for it?

Last year it was in July. :Bravo1:

Not sure about legends but well known in the US blues scene maybe. :)

Did Tokyo Joe's move, it used to be on Soi 24?

Yes it moved about a year ago, not too far away from the old location though. :)

I am tentatively planning to be up there at that time, to get my leg problems looked at. Thanks for the heads-up, Dave.

BTW, a little surprising not to see Cannonball listed. Any info on that?

Working at getting laid in Pattaya is like working at drowning at the bottom of the ocean.  If you want to get the most out of Pattaya, take the chicks for granted, and enjoy life like you would on any other holiday.

I've just realised that myself?

Maybe Keith will be there so I'll ask him. :)

Taken from an email I recieved-

Reminder: The third installment of the annual Bangkok Blues Festival returns to Tokyo Joe’s Bar & Restaurant over the weekend of March 13 -15, 2008, and is once again generously sponsored by Corona. Kansas City Bluesman Glenn Patrik returns as headliner and will be joining forces with some of the best blues and blues rock bands in the region. The festival kicks off at 8.00pm on Thursday March 13 with the homegrown Hoochie Coochie who will be followed by the Ad Here Blues Band featuring one of the best slide guitar players in town. Blue on Blue will add some southern rock grooves to the opening night and will be followed by the dynamic Blues Machine featuring multiple award winning guitarist Snowman and the ever effervescent Mary on vocals. Friday March 14 begins with the classic rock and bluesy sounds of The Fugitives, to be followed by new comers Inside/Out who have recently added Boy from the now defunct Bangkok Blues Band as frontman. Up next is the Boy Blues Band from Chiang Mai, a power trio well worth going out of your way for. Glenn Patrik, who has been headlining the festival since its inception, will be closing the show with a set that is sure to have the crowd yelling for more. Joining the impressive line – up is Malaysia’s Serious Trouble who will be hitting the stage on Saturday night, following the erstwhile Doctor Blues and TJ’s own Full House while Bangkok blues stalwarts Soi Dog will be bringing the night, and the festival, to a close with an extended set of the rockin’ blues groove they have become known for. Entry will be 300 Baht (including 1 Corona) during the three nights of the festival with collectable T-Shirts on sale. Live music will begin nightly at 8.00pm Look forward to seeing you there, www.tokyojoesbkk.com
