A man was stressed from politics, so he got drunk, wrapped a US flag around his head, then shouted at people. The merchants there found it hard to sell their goods and had to close their shops and stalls and go home.

Sattahip – November 20, 2013 [PDN]; – At 10.30am, Police Lt. Capt. Ubol Wongkamchai, (the detective officer of the Sattahip shift), received a report that there was a drunken man, who had appeared to have gone insane and was acting madly. He drove away local merchants who were selling goods around the ‘passenger pavilion area’ in front of ‘Singhsamut School’ in Moo-2 at the town of Sattahip, which lies some distance south of Pattaya City. Police Lt. Capt. Wongkamchai asked for assistance from a police car and motorcycle patrol to stop this incident.

At the scene they found a bearded, bald-headed Thai man with US flag wrapped around his head, wearing a red short sleeved T-shirt, black shorts and drinking 30-degree alcohol. He had became very drunk, then started shouting loudly and it disturbed the local merchants so much, that some of them closed their shops and stalls and then went home. When the police came, there was some quarrelling for 10-minutes, and when police ‘body searched’ him and they found 7,000 Thai baht in cash. The police were afraid that he would be harmed or would make trouble more, so they transported the man to the Sattahip police station to calm him down.

The residents told police that they saw the man on the street holding an alcohol bottle, before he sat down and drank it in the ‘passenger pavilion’ and got drunk, then was talking about politics. It was not long before he stood up and wrapped a US flag around his head, then began shouting “get out” over and over again. This started to drive people away, so no-one came to buy things, or waited for cars at the pavilion, so some shops and stalls closed, then went home, as they had become very annoyed. The police believe that the cause might have been because he had become very ‘stressed out’ over a political matter, so when he becomes sober again, he will realize the error of his ways. All over the world, everyone has the right to their own political (or other personal) opinions, but these cannot be forced upon other people, as this usually leads to arguments and conflict.
