Omani Man Tried To Exchange Fake U.S. Dollars

An Omani man tried to exchange U.S. dollars for Thai BHT at Krunsri Ayuddhaya exchange booth in south Pattaya. The bank clerk noticed that the money was fake and notified the police.

pdn03PATTAYA – November 18, 2013 [PDN]; at 11.30 p.m. Pol. Capt. Thanasit Kaenluem (Deputy Inspector of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province) was informed from the officers of the exchange booth of Krungsri Ayuddhaya bank, south Pattaya that there was the Omani tourist who was trying to exchange fake U.S. dollar banknotes. The police rushed to investigate.

Upon arriving at the scene they found a Mr. Khalid Mohamed Saif, aged 39, from Oman .He was found with one 100 U.S. dollar banknote. He told police he exchanged it when he went to at Dubai and he had already exchanged four bills of 100 U.S. dollars already and was confused why it was fake as he didn’t intend to bring the fake banknotes to be exchange.

The police went to inspect his room at the Cherry hotel but they didn’t find any additional banknotes. The police searched the man and found that he only had 4 banknotes which 1 was fake. After questioning the man the police believed his story recorded the evidence and let him go.
