Download a YouTube clip?

Does anyone know the best way to download/copy a Youtube clip to your hardrive? The only option I've seen on the web is to save it as a .flv file, but ideally I'd like to save it as an .mpg or .avi format.

I use www.savetube.com but there are many. Savetube does the job just fine.

The video format is .flv, you'd have to convert it after downloading.One of the easiest ways I've found to save them is use FireFox and the DownloadHelper plugin.Never converted any (I just use a Flv player) but google brings up a ton of convertors.

Download a piece of software called Super.

 

It's free and it will convert any video format to any other video format.

The one I use and I think it is very helpful for me is Videoraptor and I say it is very helpful cause it downloads videos and MP3 from youtube, google video, myvideo etc and also it converts the songs in formats I need (cellphone, MP3 player, ipod). my opinion is that this is the simplest way to get videos from internet. ;)

For me is Videoraptor as well, actually I've just got it cause I discovered on a blog some free licenses for it and since it was free I said 'why not take it?' cause I saw that it has some nice features comparing with other softs. The fact that it converts the files it helps me to have all my music on my ipod and cellphone.

keepvid.com works for me...

 

vixy.net works in a different manner. It logs into the youtube site and lets you download after it has converted the file. If you have a fast connection I would recommend this...

I use realplayer since I sometimes view files in rmvb format and when your mouse goes over the file it gives you an option to download the flv file.

JDownloader, its an all in one download manager, if you copy and paste a youtube link into it, it allows you to download either the FLV, MP4 or MP3 of the clip and it also lets you choose the quality.

Its the best download manager I have ever used really, and its the best for MAC
