Tourists Flock To Witness Loy Krathong Festival

Thousands of foreign tourists went to join in the 2013 Loy Krathong festival at Pattaya beach. The overwhelming amount of visitors caused traffic congestion on the surrounding roads.

PATTAYA – November 17, 2013 [PDN]; at 9.00 p.m. a journalist went to survey the Loy Krathong 2013 at Pattaya city which is more than 2km’s long. Many small and large shops took this opportunity to display, sell goods and hand made Krathongs (a lotus-shaped vessel made of banana leaves which usually contains a candle, three joss-sticks, some flowers and coins) from natural materials in order to increase revenue.

The journalists found that there were local people and tourists which most of them were foreigners brought Krathongs to ask for forgiveness from the Goddess of Water. The overall celebration was a joyful night with every one enjoying themselves. The selling of sky lanterns and fireworks was forbidden but there were still some vendors selling them to tourists although the police strictly inspected and arrested the violating vendors.

However, Pattaya city had set up fun activities located at Bali hai port south pattaya were “The Noppamas Child Princess Contest”, The Krathong Contest, performances of students of schools and other activities.
