A naval officer who tattooed a Garuda image on his body and instantly acted like he was suffering from a black magic spell, took off all his clothes and started attacking people and cars with a knife. A CPO.1 victim was attacked and almost hacked to death by the crazed man so he took out his gun and shot him through the heart killing him immediately.

CHONBURI – November 10, 2013 [PDN]; At 12.10 a.m. Pol. Capt. Saijai Khamjulla (investigation officer of Sattahip police station) was notified that there was a who had been shot dead in front of Kromluang Choomphorn camp, Royal Thai Marine Corps, Moo 2 Tambon Sattahip, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province so he rushed to inspect the crime scene together with Pol. Col. Chonnaphat Nawalak (Superintendent of Sattahip police station), Pol. Lt. Col. Prakorb Saengphring (Deputy Superintendent), Pol. Col. Niphon Pomsanarm (Deputy Superintendent), detective police team and the rescuers of Sawang Rojjanatharmmasatharn Sattahip foundation.

On arriving at the incident at the side of road (exit route from Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province) the officers found the corpse of Petty Officer First Class Kampholphat Phootpha, aged 35, who belongs to the 1st Coastal Defence Department, Air and Coastal Defence Command, was lying naked on the ground. In his right hand they found a folded knife he also had a tattoo of magic letters on his chest and back and a Garuda tattoo his belly. From the initial examination the officers found that had sustained 1 shot from a .38 gun to his chest the bullet had passed through his heart. Also at the crime scene the police also found a black Dmax pickup license number PHOR NOR-1005 Chonburi, a grey Toyota Fortuner license number KOR YOR-9977 Chonburi, a gold Toyota Soluna license number KOR WOR-9547 Chonburi, a black Nissan Almera license number KOR NOR-2107 Nakhornpathom and a red/grey Honda Wavelicense number KHOR SOR ROR-657 Chonburi, all of these vehicles sustained knife damaged by the crazed man.

From questioning Petty Officer First Class Seksan Janthongsuk who belongs to the Coast Guard Command who is the owner of the damaged motorbike told the police that while he was driving his motorbike back to his home in The Royal Thai Marine Corps, he saw the naked crazed man carrying a knife standing in the middle of the road blocking the traffic. He then started to attack the cars with the knife he then attacked people who were running away he then heard 2 gun shots but couldn’t see what had happened due to it being dark. The shooter then rushed to flee the scene in his pickup.

Later Pol. Col. Chonnaphat Nawalak (Superintendent of Sattahip police station) revealed that Chief Petty Officer First Class Prakhong Ronnarongphairee, aged 52, who belongs to the Transportation Division of Sattahip Naval Base, surrendered himself to the police and confessed he was the shooter and he used his .38 Rewalwer gun. He confessed that he shot him in self defence as the man tried to attack him, he expelled 2 rounds from his gun the first was a warning shot into the air to warn the crazed man but it didn’t work and the second was the fatal shot which killed him. Initially, the police charged CPO.1 Prakhong (the shooter) with murder as the case will investigated further.
