Pattaya Police Arrest Man One Day After He Was Released From Prison

A teenage man snatched and ran away with a Russian tourist property after only being released from prison for 1 day. He confessed to the street robbery because he wanted money to purchase dugs.

PATTAYA – November 6, 2013 [PDN]; At 10.00 p.m. Pol. Col. Thanasit Kaenluem (Deputy Inspector of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province) was notified that there was an incident where a man snatched property from a foreign tourist .The incident occurred at the beginning of Soi 10, Pattaya beach road, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, the police officer rushed to inspect the crime scene with the forces of police team. The police officers used radio communication to coordinate each other to trap the villain as he tried to escape.

When the police arrived they found Ms. Fkaterina Frolova, aged 30, from Russian who confirmed that she had her bag snatched and sustained a graze to her right arm. Her husband was also present to perform first aid and to assist the police with their enquires.

From questioning the Russian victim she told police that she was walking with her husband when suddenly a man appeared wearing a blue shirt and camouflage trousers he walked upto her and knocked her to the ground, he then quickly snatched her pink handbag with black and white stripes, which contained 2,400 THB, 2 mobile phones and some documents and quickly fled the scene.

Later the police spotted the suspect running through the market of Thip Plaza project, approximately 150 meters away from the first incident and he was detained by the police. Upon searching in his body, the police found the handbag and belongings of the victim were hidden inside his shirt. He was identified as Mr. Anurak La-ong-orn, aged 22, address 5/5 Moo 7 Tambon Baan Suan, Amphur Meuang Chonburi, Chonburi province. The Russian tourist identified him as the suspect. Upon questioning he confessed that he wanted money to buy amphetamines so he snatched the tourists bag. He was then taken to Pattaya police station to be prosecuted according to Thai law.
