I'm kinda a newbie to this but PA is number 320 in Thai website ranking.

But 2nd most popular country by visit is Russia? Must be a lot of Boris' lurking and not posting...

Country Percent of Visitors Rank in Country

Thailand 69.1% 320

Russia 15.6% 9,166

Australia 2.3% 20,174

Cyprus 2.0% 536

United Kingdo. 1.9% 51,341

I like this bit lol

Relative to the general internet population, people who went to college are greatly under-represented at this site.

Confidence: low

Wow. Impressive stats. 17.1 daily page views per visitor and over 34 minutes on the site per day.  Those are both greater than Facebook. People going to this website are really reading a lot and spending a fair amount of time reading and posting. Either that or they're hunting for nudie pics of TG's.  Good job either way.

A lot of the skew in the data has to due with how Alexa gathers it's traffic data. Alexa does not have objective traffic data, it has to rely on software installed on clients desktops reporting browsing habits. Basically it samples the population who install it's toolbar. More highly educated and savvy Internet users do not install such things, hence their low representation among college graduates.

It's quite possible more Russians have the toolbar installed due to some dodgy software bundling, vs westerners so that the Alexa rankings wouldn't match the google analytics visitors by country.

If one of the Admins would be kind enough to share the pie chart of visitors by country from google analytics for PA so we could compare against alexa it would be interesting I'd bet.

Tool bar or not, how can they accurately report how much traffic comes from college graduates?

Dunno...maybe based on your browsing history, I.e do you read the FT ....can only be an educated guess though at best

Have since heard Alexa isn't great and google analytics is more accurate when it comes to measuring web traffic

They know roughly the demographics that install the toolbar, and that is how they can say College graduates not significantly represented. That can be done through statistically significant sampling of the installed toolbar population through surveys, credit checks, geo-ip to zip-code correlation, etc, etc.

The reason google analytics is better is because most website owners run analytics javascript on every page, even if that wasn't the case google knows roughly how much traffic it sends you as well. Thus if you have google analytics installed it is the source of truth. However, because of their privileged position they don't publicly sell site-rankings information, so Alexis is the best in a field of one.

Nowadays ISPs around the world will sell aggregated traffic data as "business intelligence" to third parties, but that typically doesn't make it to the public either.
