Exchange Rate

Thomas Cook at the moment are offering 44.5- 45 today. I wouldn't buy from them but was wondering how the local exchange rate compares to this in the exchange shops. I have never been yet first time in January so have no real idea how it works locally. I know in African countries the rate is always significantly better than when you buy at home.

The reference Krungsri banks add about 30 BHT and could you have a real currency exchange rate on the Windows.

1 English pound about 49.55

Quite a number of TT Currency Exchanges around Pattaya now and they usually offer one of the best rates.

Always change the cash in country. Thomas cook and the like in the UK make a big deal out of not charging any commission, but their rates are awful. Most places in country don't charge commission, or very little, they make their money on the exchange rate, but probably make about 1 baht per pound instead of 5 or 6 charged by most UK based currency exchange businesses.
