If we look few years back teleconferencing has been one of the major technologies in providing communication across borders regardless of face interface, this technology was able to help communicate among different businesses.

In recent years Internet has taken another leap, by providing videoconferencing which serves both voice and face interface technology by using a video camera, which teleconferencing technology lacked. This meant meetings and discussions could be done in a much easier fashion.

Recently, Cisco System Company along with Commission Higher Education has together launched a new networking system which can be applied to all universities around the country. This form of distance learning using the TelePresence, is a network that connects 70 universities around the world using UniNet without any charges applied.

Office of Information Technology Administration for Educational Development Commission Higher Education (CHE ) and Cisco CISCO has merged in the academic sector to provide “Global Tele Presence Research and Education Community on UniNet Network”

Cisco TelePresence has sponsored the CTS1300 system as a gateway to connect 70 universities around the world in the distance learning project. This technology will be used to connect in meetings, seminars and teaching. This will be an educational network for institutes and universities for both private and public sectors to take advantage of this educational platform. This technology will help to improve research and education worldwide.

Mr. Watson Tirapatpong , Managing director of Cisco Thailand Co., states that Cisco is pleased to be a part of improving and broadening the quality of education in Thailand. Therefore, the TelePresence technology has been able to reduce barriers that impede learning i.e. limited staffs, time, location, and budget. This system has also been able to attract teachers from abroad as well as improve the course curriculum. This is an opportunity for new learning methods in Thailand. The education system in Thailand has revolutionized by using this new network platform.

With the high speed capacity of 10 Gbps of the Uninet, the TelePresence technology will be able connect to different universities around the world This system will enhance the quality of education and create a new model for the education in Thailand which is so called the “Virtual Classroom ” .

The most important pillar for improving the education system is to provide the opportunity for learning and for the exchange of information between different universities around the world so that the content in learning and teaching is mutually understood. This interactive learning opportunity is an opportunity in expanding education to communities and rural areas.
