Five Hurt In Phuket Speedboat Collision

Four Chinese tourists and a Thai guide were injured in a speedboat crash around 2.30pm yesterday (September 22).

Phuket – September 22,2013; Police said the speedboat, Thanonsak 9030, was carrying 32 tourists and three guides from Phi Phi island on a tour. It was moving in to anchor at the popular Koh Kai Nok when another speedboat, Sasiyanon 8, rammed into it.

Four male tourists, along with one of the Thai guides, were injured in the smash and were taken to Mission Hospital.

Zheng Dazhi, 36, and Zang Zuofa, 53, both had arm injuries. Xu Yiming, 51, suffered a back injury and Sun Jiuhang, 42, received broken ribs and required surgery. The guide, Veera Srisuwan, 40, suffered head injuries.

Mr Sun is recovering in the ICU. The three other Chinese tourists have been discharged.

Both speedboat drivers are to be questioned by the Marine Police.
