Are there 1 day passes to Savannakhet Laos?

If I am in Mukdahan can I travel over to Savannakhet to use the casinos on a pass similar to the Cambodian Casinos?  I know the Thai gamblers do.  If it is possible can you take your Thai registered motorbike with you?  Lots of info about multiple entries online but I am on a retirement visa already and might like a few days escape from Isaan without going the Lao visa route..

Depends on how long your going for?

You can get daily passes at the border.

otherwise you need to apply in advance.

Visa on arrival needs two photos etc,

Plus whatever. I think USD25.

I know from past experience, but Google really is your friend.

Pull your finger out.

As stated in the subject, I was looking for a day pass why would you need to know how long I was going for??? Also in my request for information I have tried online (Google incidentally)for 1 day pass info but only found lots on multi entries and regular visas only.

Pull your finger out.

Unless you are Thai or another ASEAN nation I doubt can get a border pass.  They want to make money off visa fees.  Fee is USD35 or B1500 for most nationalities.

What type of motorcycle do you have?  Most crossings will only let larger bikes above 200 or 250cc cross but as is often the case here it can be entirely up to the whims of the government worker.

Thanks ctm.  When I used to do border runs years ago farangs could get them in the Cambodian border towns for the casinos without getting a regular visa and that included staying overnight.  I was hoping this type of pass may be available in Savannakhet for farangs.  You would think the Lao government would encourage this to gets more revenue.

They have a similar arrangement in Myanmar but just for certain tourist towns on the border rather than gambling.

I only drive a 150 PCX, nothing large.  It would be easy enough to leave the bike in Mukdahan and bus across the bridge.
