AHTD Arrests Italian Man For Child Trafficking

The AHTD were able to arrest an elder Italian man who was fleeing after he was found guilty of child trafficking. He was arrested in Spain, but he has now been extradited to Thailand, the country where he committed the crimes.

BANGKOK – September 18, 2013 [PDN]; A press conference was held at the Headquarters of the Anti-Human Trafficking Division of the Royal Thai Police to announce the arrest of Mr. Costa Ruggero, age 66, an Italian national. Who was fleeing from an court arrest warrant that was filed in May 2012 for child trafficking.

Mr. Costa Ruggero was wanted by the AHTD since 2008, when he was found buying from a 11 year-old girl. In 2009, when Mr. Costa became aware that he under suspicion of child trafficking, he immediately fled the country. An arrest warrant was shortly issued after he had fled. The Interpol was able to find and arrest Mr. Costa in Spain and the AHTD requested to have Mr. Costa extradited to Thailand, in order to prosecute him for his crimes.

He is now in the hands of the AHTD, he will now be charged for his crimes that he had committed and will serve a lengthy prison sentence.
