7 Stations For The High â€“ Speed Rail Project

Department of Public Works report that the high-speed rail project from Bangkok - Pattaya - Rayong and Chachoengsao which covers 5,000 rai will help boost the economy and also aims to provide the eastern seaboard as the major tourist hub.

State Railway of Thailand (SRT) reveals that the high-speed rail project from Bangkok – Pattaya – Rayong and Chachoengsao will cover a distance of 221 km and 2 trillion baht will be taken as loan for this project. It is estimated that the total time for consultation will be 14 months which is 1 September 2014, and the project completion is estimated to be 2017, there will be a total of seven stations for this project.

At first they will be seven stations using the station from Bang Sue to Makassand / Suvarnahumi Ladkrabang Chachaengsao Pattaya Chonburi Rayong driving at speed 250km/hr and a large intersection 10 km at Mapthaphut-Rayong . These stations could be linked to Cambodia in the future.

Public Works Department reveals that Transportation Department have been asked to check the area where the high speed rail Bangkok-Pattaya-Rayong have been considered as well as the implementation of two possibilities which area:

1. Chachaengsao station based in the same area, in front of city hall Chachaengsao which is easy to access and it is about 1 km away from the city, consists of2,500 rai, a total investment of 29,725 million baht , land worth 3,023 million baht.

2. Chonburi a new station at Napa district, 2km away towards North from the old station , 4 kms from the city, easy to access and its connected to the motorway, land area of 3750 rai, total investment money of 66,722 hundred thousand.

3. The Siracha station located on the south of the old station, it is 4 km away from the Laemchabang municipality and 3 km from the Laemchabang port a total of 3750 rai.

4. The Pattaya station, very near Jomtein, 8kms from the train station in front of Ambassador hotel and and Ocean Marina Yacht Club, the area is wide and spacious, no floods, and it is near major tourist areas. The major Sukhumvit line and the train station are easy to access.

5. As for the Pattaya station there are two options:

· In between the city and industrial area which is 4 km away from the city, 1 km away from the Maptraphut industrial zone.

· 3 km away from the Maptraphut industrial zone and 6 km away from Rayong province.

Pattaya is a major city for the new high-speed rail, because Pattaya with its new monorail that will be built will make the city a much more easier and convenient for tourists and locals to travel. Therefore Pattaya strives to excel in being the major tourist city.
