The newly opened tourist court received positive feedback from tourists; more divisions will be opened in other provinces to help with the image of the tourism markets in Thailand.

THAILAND – September 15, 2013 [PDN];Mr. Virat Chinvinijakul, Secretary of Justice reveals that after the newly opened Tourist Court or Tourist division on 5th September, where cases are filed by tourists and foreigners, have received great feedback. Especially after the speed boat case that occurred a few weeks ago in Bali Hai , a new division in Phuket will be opened on the 24th September and other divisions in other provinces will be launched gradually.

Mr. Virat claims that the problems of tourist being harassed at major tourist attraction which includes the stealing of properties, theft and or other acts have been a major issue. However, most tourists have to travel back to their country and therefore the suspects are not punished or prosecuted, which has severely affected the image of Thailand.

Phairot Vayuphab, President of the Supreme Court reveals that the court was made to give justice to tourists and to make tourists feel that they are protected by the law. The court allows tourists to consult with judges as well as police in order to find solutions for their problems.

Advance witness monitors, installed in the Airport, along with one English-speaking officer is there to provide help and coordinate cases with major departments. In the beginning only small cases will be taken however, gradually the department will grow and be able to solve more cases.
