Discussion has been held regarding the high-speed rail project for the eastern route line which includes Suvarnabhumi Airport extension - Chon Buri - Pattaya – Rayong.

PATTAYA- September 13, 2013 [PDN]; at 8.30 am at the Ambassador city hotel, Jomtein, Chonburi Department of Railway Thailand organized an event for participants group 1 (orientation program ) regarding project of Airport Rail Link Suvarnabhumi Airport extension – Chon Buri – Pattaya – Rayong ( High-speed rail project on the east ) along with government agencies, local businesses and locals from these provinces attended the event.

Mr. Chulathep Chitsombat, responsible for the development of the eastern route project claims that the government has given details about the development and the extension of the Railway airport extension Chon Buri – Pattaya – Rayong. This project is to help expand and support economic growth of the country.

The Department of transportation has been designing the high-speed Railway link for the four pathways which are Northern Line route Bangkok – Phitsanulok –Chiangmai-Rayong about 745 km.

North East Line consists of Bangkok-Nakornsithamrat-Nongkhai-Rayong about 982 km and the eastern line route from Suvarnabhumi Airport –Chonburi-Rayong about 206 km.

The eastern line route which is 206 km the starting station is at Bangsue -Makkasan, a total of 7 km a travelling time of 6 minutes(160 km/hr).

from Makkasan – Suvarnabhumi ,distance of23 km travelling time takes 14 minutes ( speed 160 km / hr )

from Suvarnabhumi Airport –Chachaoengsao ,distance of 250 km and travelling time of 14 minutes (160 km/hr)

from Chachaoengsao-Chonburi-Rayong, distance of 46 km and travelling time of 15 minutes (250 km/hr)

from Chonburi-Pattaya, distance of 50 km and traveling time of 16 minutes (250 km/hr)

from Pattaya-Rayong , distance of 55 km and travelling time of 90 minutes (250 km /hr)

Mr. Chulathep Chitsombat, revealed that the eastern route line are looking at the feasibility study of this project. As for today’s orientation the second alternative project of not including Chachaoengsao in the route line was presented so that further discussions can be held. There will also weigh the benefits and drawbacks of the environmental impacts on building the eastern route project. However, if the government funds are released then they could continue with eastern route project.

Mr.Sayan Imsom manager of the high-speed rail project claims that the High-speed rail project of the east is a link between the Donmueng and Suvarnabhumi airport which will later benefit travelling and logistics. The high-speed rail will be the main mode of transportation because of its high-speed. Other routes within the countries will also be discussed so that if the project works then it will hopefully open more doors to the ASEAN countries, meaning logistics and traveling will become much easier within member countries.
