foxtel slingbox

 I got a phone call from a mate in Pattaya last night and he asked me if I had Foxtel, I said i did and he asked me if I would install a slingbox on my foxtel. He said it's a box next to my foxtel box and he would pay for it as it would enable him to watch foxtel overseas, I'm a wee bit confused as to how it all works, could anyone let me know any further info please, any advice will be very gratefully received thanks.

i sorta looked into this when living there and was told that the speeds in pattaya are not quick enough

I have Slingbox hooked up to my DVR here in the U.S.  It worked okay in Pattaya, but the performance is largely dependent upon your Internet speed.

 

When I log onto Slingbox (or the Slingbox app on my iPhone), it pulls up a remote that resembles my home remote -- I can turn the power on/off, change channels, watch recorded programs , etc. 

 

If you agree to hook it up, do it on a spare TV that you don't use -- your friend will actually control the channels, etc., which could be an issue if you're trying to watch something else.  5555555
